#ChatDiaries (Week 1): Vomiting in Canada & Mexico

RR-chat

A couple years ago I made a song with four bass parts called “CAN I HAVE A #CHAT?” — about a travel hopeful, surrounded by lush woods and waterfalls, but feeling SO ALONE. And only wanting a little #chat. Maybe a hug.

The #chats I mean are those steady streams of questions that various travel companies unleash throughout the week on Twitter. The ones that feel like, almost always, watching 175 talk shows at once. A question is asked. And dozens or more respond. Very few people engage with each other. Maybe on occasion, as in a “Love this : )”, and then it all disappears into an unremembered vapor.

Or am I just a whiner?

I’m toying with the idea of spending a couple weeks or more of steadfast participation in EVERY chat. Just to see what it does to you (like that guy did once by eating nothing but McDonald’s for a year, or whatever). I wouldn’t participate by answering “tru dat!” and sharing my pics. But making a real effort — answering the questions with hundreds of words, typed in frenzied outburst in a Word doc, then sharing the screen-grab. I envision some answers made in 2000 words, with five 400-word screen-grabs. Something like a selfie gone diary.

I’ll think about this.

Meanwhile, this week I participated in #TravelSkills, #TravelChat2015 by Mashable, #TNI and others. Here are a few answers for your pleasure.
