Q&A: Mom & my first 24 Hours in Mexico City

Here’s a lost photo essay I somehow rediscovered scans of. Several years ago, in a previous incarnation of the Lonely Planet website, I was asked about my ‘first 24 hours’ in a special place. I immediately picked Mexico City. It’s the trip, as young a wee thing, that gave me the travel bug for life. A place with pyramids, Aztec canals and real tacos I didn’t exactly love at first bite. To help remember the trip, I interviewed my mom. And here are the results. No apologies for the clothing choices.

Those arrows fooled me. I thought I can click thru a slideshow! Any link to the original post? I’ve always been fascinated by any ancient structures especially the mega- ones. I would love to see Teotihuakan. Unfortunately, Mexico is too far from me so flights are just way too costly. But perhaps one day when my pockets are loose.

Hi Parvis. The slideshow is sadly lost. It was originally posted on Lonely Planet’s website. I only posted it here once I found scans I had made of it! Mexico is cheaper than a lot of destinations, so if you CAN get the flight, you’ll be able to make more of your budget than in a lot of other places depending on how you travel. Mexico is wonderful.
